Event Registration in ChatGPT and Claude: From Session Choice to Booking Reference

A visitor asks, “Can I join the Saturday ceramics workshop with a friend?” An event app can check the specific session, explain the available places, and help prepare a registration. It should make the difference between available capacity, a held place, and confirmed attendance unmistakable.

This is an illustrative MCP app workflow for ChatGPT and Claude, not an announcement of a Kernel Apps ticketing integration. MCP tools would connect the conversation to the organiser’s session and registration records.

Select the right event and session

Show the workshop’s location, date, start time, timezone, and attendee requirements. Similar session titles on different weekends should be separate choices. Retrieve accessibility and preparation information from the organiser’s published guidance rather than generating venue promises.

Check capacity for the requested number of people. If only one place remains, say so. Do not quietly register one attendee and put the other on a waitlist without explaining the different outcomes first.

Explain what a registration will do

Before submission, show the session, attendee count, price if applicable, and cancellation terms supplied by the organiser. Collect only information needed for that registration. One person’s booking should not expose the names or contact details of other attendees.

If the session requires payment, follow the organiser’s approved checkout process. Creating a registration draft is not proof that payment succeeded. Do not describe a place as paid or confirmed until the corresponding system records that status.

Handle capacity changes at submission time

Another booking can use the last places after the initial lookup. The registration service needs to recheck capacity when saving. If it rejects the request, present the current alternatives and let the visitor decide instead of silently changing the session.

A successful response should include the registration reference, session details, and confirmation status. If an email is expected, distinguish “registration saved” from “confirmation email delivered.” Those are separate events.

What does joining a waitlist mean?

A waitlist entry records interest; it does not guarantee admission. Explain the organiser’s process for offering a newly available place, including any response deadline the system provides. Never invent a queue position if the organiser does not expose one.

Useful measures include duplicate registrations, failed capacity checks, and whether visitors can retrieve or cancel their own registration. Avoid promising attendance growth from an unmeasured implementation.

Explore appointment confirmations and customer support. Join the waitlist to discuss a registration workflow.
